Voter Guide
Special Election September 2021
YIMBY Action members across the state, including Santa Cruz YIMBY members, have overwhelmingly voted to support Governor Gavin Newsom in the special recall election.
The recall election will determine whether Governor Newsom, the California governor elected in 2019, will end his term early—this year—through a one-off recall election. By voting no on the recall, voters allow Governor Newsom to complete his four-year term.
Losing Governor Newsom would be a major setback for the pro-housing movement and would derail our legislative priorities. Without a pro-housing voice in the governor’s office, our work on the California Housing Element would be undermined at every turn. This critical process will help us build millions of homes in California — but only with pro-housing leadership at the top!
