Housing Bills Need Santa Cruz YIMBYs to Speak Up!
Two crucial bills are in the Assembly that would make it easier for California to build housing for middle-income workers like teachers and nurses. These bills will also take major steps to reducing our state’s staggering housing shortage.
Tell your Assemblymember to support these two bills:
✅ SB 9 legalizes duplexes. It allows homeowners to split their property into two lots and build two homes on each lot.
✅ SB 10 makes it easier for cities that want to rezone to allow more housing with less regulatory burden. It offers a simplified process for up to 10 homes on a lot if a city chooses to pass upzone legislation.
Together, these bills will help our state legalize more affordable housing.
These bills are getting an absurd amount of pushback. We need people in Santa Cruz YIMBY to say loud and proud that they support SB 9 & SB 10!
